Builder’s Challenge: From Invisible to Visible (One Comment at a Time)
Because sometimes the smallest actions (like commenting) create the biggest visibility.

Before we dive in, here’s a quick note for new readers: The Builder’s Challenge is my journey to build a ₱100K side hustle while still working a night shift. For years, I bought courses and collected knowledge but rarely took action. This challenge breaks that cycle—by learning in public, applying lessons in real time, and sharing the process so you can build alongside me.
Last week, I shared how I’m testing my offer through outreach. You can read more about it here: Builder's Challenge: Taking the Leap Into Outreach (Where Offers Meet the Market)
This week, I listened to a powerful conversation between Chris Do and Jasmin Alić on this podcast episode. It completely reframed how I think about engagement and visibility, and how small, consistent actions can create outsized results.
I learned something that feels just as important: visibility.
I listened to the first minute of it, and it stopped me in my tracks. They broke down a simple truth that hit me hard:
“It takes so little to do so much, yet we ask so much to do so little.”
That line stuck with me.
Because most of us think growth = posting more, hustling harder, or hacking the algorithm. But the reality is simpler: visibility starts with showing up where your audience already is.
Commenting, done consistently and intentionally, can give you more reach than posting alone. It’s low-stakes, high-reward, and it builds trust before you ever pitch.
So this week, instead of just posting, I’m experimenting with a new daily habit: strategic commenting.
Fifteen minutes a day. No algorithm games. Just showing up, engaging, and adding value.
And I’m already seeing how this connects to my Builder’s Challenge: if I want to earn trust (and eventually clients), I have to earn attention first.
Why Engagement > Algorithms
Another line that stood out from the conversation for me was
“Commenting is writing.”
Visibility doesn’t have to mean chasing algorithms. Commenting gives you reach without relying on the algorithm — and more importantly, it creates micro-touchpoints of trust.
Every thoughtful comment you leave is a seed planted. It’s low stakes, high reward.
If your posts aren’t getting reach? Comment more.
Even if the person isn’t your ideal client, you’re still tapping into their network.
This is how you start building visibility before you pitch or sell anything.
My Commenting / Engagement Plan
This week, I started experimenting with engagement as a habit:
First thing in the morning — before emails or calls.
15 minutes daily on LinkedIn (sometimes creeping to 30–60 minutes).
Not chasing numbers. Focusing on time spent so it’s sustainable.
Here’s the math Jasmin shared that stuck with me:
10–20 comments/day → 50–100 comments/week → 2600–5200 comments/year → 100x your visibility over time.
This isn’t about spamming or being everywhere. It’s about showing up consistently where your people already are.
The Content Structure That Stuck With Me
One of the biggest takeaways from the Chris Do x Jasmin Alić podcast was how to create content people actually engage with:
1️⃣ Broad Hook — Start with an emotion or universal problem everyone can relate to.
2️⃣ Niche Tie-In — Connect it to your ICP (for me, Digital creators).
3️⃣ Soft Sell in the Middle — Plant the seed but don’t directly sell. People aren’t on social media to be advertised to.
4️⃣ Close With a Simple Question — Drive comments + engagement. (Yes/no, %, or one-word answers work best.)
I’m experimenting with this in my own posts and even in my comments.
It’s a way of “stopping selling in your content” and instead building trust first.
“If you don’t do anything that earns trust from your audience, you won’t earn a sale.”
Why This Matters for Freelancers
You don’t need viral posts. You need visibility from the right people.
Engagement is a trust-building habit.
3–5 clients can book you out…
You don’t need thousands.
Small, consistent actions compound.
Commenting is the low-stakes, high-leverage move that gets you seen before you’re even ready to sell.
This is exactly what I’m adding to my Builder’s Challenge. The outreach is about testing my offer.
The commenting is about earning attention first, so when I do reach out, I’m not a stranger.
Turning Visibility Into Trust
This week’s focus in the Builder’s Challenge isn’t flashy. It’s not another new funnel or some hack.
It’s about doing the unglamorous but powerful work of showing up — comment by comment, connection by connection.
Because here’s the truth I’m reminding myself:
“It takes so little to do so much, yet we ask so much to do so little.”
If I don’t build this habit now, my offer might never get the attention it deserves.
If I do, I can turn cold audiences into warm ones, and warm ones into clients.
The stakes for me are clear:
Don’t engage → stay invisible, keep guessing.
Engage daily → become visible, start earning trust.
And that trust is what makes outreach and offers work.
This is the part where theory meets reality. My goal isn’t to be perfect. It’s to do the reps and learn in public.
So here’s my challenge for you this week:
👉 What’s one small engagement habit you can start today — 5 comments, 10 minutes — to earn visibility with the right people?
Hit reply and tell me. I read every response.
Because visibility → trust → clients. And it all starts with small, consistent actions.
